Honoring Dr. Kara Brewer’s Legacy
Kara Brewer ’69, ’72, ’76’ COP attended night classes at San Joaquin Delta College following the birth of her eighth child. She transferred to Pacific where she earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees before becoming an employee of the university.
In 1977, Dr. Brewer published Pioneer or Perish: A History of the University of the Pacific during the Administration of Dr. Robert E. Burns, 1946-1971. When she retired in 1999, Dr. Brewer had received multiple university awards, including Most Valuable Pacifican, the Alumni
Association’s Medallion of Excellence and the Order of Pacific, the university’s highest honor. The Pacific Alumni Association is seeking to raise $50,000 so that the fund qualifies for the Powell Match, the university’s gift-matching program that doubles any contribution made to an endowment at Pacific.
